Casio Men's G-Force Military Concept Black Digital Watch #DW6900MS-1CR Review

Casio Men's G-Force Military Concept Black Digital Watch #DW6900MS-1CRFirst off I should note that I am a long time user and lover of Casio G-Shocks. I have owned several over the past couple of decades starting in the military. This is my first dissappointment with Casio watches.....

The face of the watch, buttons and setup are pretty standard for G-Shock watches.... The cool looking black screen with light lettering/numbers is the issue. In low light situations you cannot see the lettering/numbers. For example my coworker was sitting 10 feet away from me and I could read his standard G-Shock from across the room to tell the time when I couldn't even read mine on my wrist without using the light on the watch.....

If you work during the day or in brightly lit rooms all the time this may not be an issue, but if you are in and out of low lit areas, outside during dusk/dawn this watch will not be for you.

I am returning mine for a non-black faced Casio G-Shock watch.

Casio Women's Classic Round Analog Watch #LQ139D-9B1 Review

Casio Women's Classic Round Analog Watch #LQ139D-9B1I got this watch because I have a brown leather watch with silver hardware and I wanted something I could wear with gold. It was quite reasonable, so it wasn't a big risk. I like this watch, I'd say it's a bit elegant in styling, although the band is fair. What does annoy me is that the little tag or covering that keeps the band flap close to the band itself moves back a lot and I have to re-adjust this and it can get annoying. But, for the price, it is well styled, keeps really great time and does the trick with black and/or gold is called for.

Casio Men's Atomic Solar G Shock Watch #GWM850-1CR Review

Casio Men's Atomic Solar G Shock Watch #GWM850-1CRI bought this watch for its durability and its features.I like the fact that it is solar powered.I wanted a stopwatch and countdown timer with 24 hr. capability.I also like that the backlight lights up the entire face of the watch.I don't have to periodically set the time on the watch because it does that automaticaly each night.Except for two minor issues this would be the perfect watch. The volume on the alarm is much softer than on my previous Casio watches.I'm a little concerned that there may be times when it will not be loud enough to wake me up.Also, I would like to be able to display the time in the small display at the top when I am using one of the other modes on the watch.Other than these two issues, I really like this watch.

Casio Men's Multilingual Databank Bracelet Watch #DB37HD-7AV Review

Casio Men's Multilingual Databank Bracelet Watch #DB37HD-7AVThis was my fourth databank watch in the last 13 years. I am hard on my equipment. Like many before it, it stores simple information quickly and easily. I miss the password function of previous models, but it does what is says it does. With identity theft becoming commonplace, I would not keep any very important data in this watch as it is not protected. The buttons are solid and for a "techie", it is not too hard to figure out how to enter and retrieve data. It has traditional Casio reliability and accuracy. My only complaint is the lack of adjustability of the watchband, but another one could be installed to fix that. I recommend this item highly.

Casio Men's Atomic Tough Solar Waveceptor Sports Watch #WVA320J-1E Review

Casio Men's Atomic Tough Solar Waveceptor Sports Watch #WVA320J-1EThe watch looks better in person than it does in the pictures. I recommend going to a brick and mortar store before committing on Amazon. The watch looks much better with an after-market nylon zulu/nato strap. Another version with a steel bracelet is offered, but I've heard that the quality on the bracelet is not great, so I recommend after-market bracelets (watch has standard 22mm lugs). The lume on the hands is very bright, unfortunately, the rest of the lume is a little dim, not sure if that is meant on purpose. Weak lume is a non-issue since the watch has a electric light that adequately illuminates the watch. The digital display can be used for a number of things, not just weekday and calendar day indication. It can also display different time zone times, power meter, stop watch, digital time, digital second indicator... etc. Its really cool to see that the digital time is exactly synchronized with the analog time. THIS IS NOT A DIVE WATCH! As far as a I can tell, the watch is not rated for diving, but it is styled after dive watches so I find that a little misleading. The bezel is unidirectional with 120 clicks. The atomic synchronization doesn't seem to work well here in Miami, reception from FT. Collins is poor to non-existent, but that is not Casio's fault. NIST has plans to build a station that will cover the east coast of the US but plans are not set in stone or near the horizon, so I wouldn't hold my breath. Bought the watch at $120 from Amazon (noticed the price went up :( Initially was told that the watch would ship in 1 month! but the actual ship time was a lot shorter in reality. I agree with another reviewer that the watch was a little confusing to setup initially and that the manual was a little confusing but eventually you will figure it out with a little patience.

Bottomline --- Watch is not perfect, it is not dive rated but is probably well suited for all other water activities. Packs plenty of high-tech features in a classic appearance. If you like the dive watch style but don't want the clunkiness of a dive watch, this is it. Casio reliability and quality is legendary.

Casio Men's Tough Solar Digital Sports Watch #AL180AMVV-1 Review

Casio Men's Tough Solar Digital Sports Watch #AL180AMVV-1So I don't understand the other reviewers complaints about it not working when the sun sets. Why would CASIO make a watch that did that?? That would be an extremely lame thing to manufacture.

All you had to do was read the instruction manual, it states that the watch must be charged for 3-6 hours (where 3 hours is outdoor sunlight, and 6 hours is under office lighting).

There is a little icon on the screen that looks like a little sun; when that goes out the watch is fully charged.

On a full charge, the 2505 model will last 14 days without needing a charge again from its solar panel! The other model (not the 2505 version) will last 4 days on a single charge.

Okay so the watch does not have a backlight, but so what. It still provides an alarm and hourly chime features.

It also has that cool 80's retro look, yet has 21st century technology utilizing supercapacitors instead of batteries. Truly a watch you can say is powered by the sun and not using up our resources to power itself.

I am surprised the green movement has not seized up this really cool technology.
Way to go CASIO for another home run of a watch - love your products ever since the 80s!

Casio Women's Baby-G Solar Atomic Black Band Watch #BGR3000J-1 Review

Casio Women's Baby-G Solar Atomic Black Band Watch #BGR3000J-1I've seen this watch advertised elsewhere as a ladies watch, so I took a chance and ordered it.It is definitely a ladies watch, or one for a very small man.Nice watch.Love the atomic feature.I will never have to think about accuracy again. The price here was excellent and far below what I found in a department store.Only negative is the strap retainer--strap keeps slipping out of the retainer.

Casio Men's Ana-Digi Chronograph Dive Resin Strap Watch #AMW330-7AV Review

Casio Men's Ana-Digi Chronograph Dive Resin Strap Watch #AMW330-7AVI actually saw this watch at Costco, but decided to research it a little more on line before buying it. I was able to get it on Amazon for about 8 dolls. cheaper than Costco; about 46 dolls. cheaper than retail.
At $62 dolls. this is a really good watch. I really love the independent stop watch feature that it has, as well as how the minutes and hours are also counted.
The price of this watch is determined by the depth that you can use it. This watch is statically tested at 100m or 10 bars. I thought that it was perfect, because I never dive deeper than 100 ft., but I found out through research after the buy, that 100m in real life translates to being able to use it in a pool only.
But, for the money, the styling and the features, this watch isn't going to be beat on the market. The resin band is also much more comfortable than something like a G-shock.
I wear it everyday and I love it so far.

Casio Men's Multifunction Sport Watch #W752D-1AV Review

Casio Men's Multifunction Sport Watch #W752D-1AVI recently purchased the W752D-1AV and I thought I'd review it and pass along a few things I learned from the sizable instruction manual.

First off, I'm very satisfied with the watch and the vendor (Chelsea Watch).I ordered the watch on Thursday and it arrived with standard shipping the following Monday. The package was safe and secure and the watch arrived in excellent condition.

I chose the 752 for a combination of reasons:a) Large LCD digital display, b) light weight, c) metal band and body, d) more than one alarm function, e) front mounted light button (not side mounted), f) 10 year battery and g) made by Casio. In all of these things I am completely satisfied and can heartily recommend the watch for anyone seeking this combination of features. The face of the watch is crisp and large and the numbers and display are easy to read. The metal watch and band are large and masculine looking but very light weight. There are 4 alarm functions, one of which features a snooze option, and the front mounted light button is easy to use and works fine for my purposes.I would prefer a blue backlight to the side mounted white LED, but that's a matter of personal preference and I couldn't find a watch with blue backlight and 10 year battery and the side mounted white LED works just fine. For a watch that costs around $20, having a 10 year battery is a great benefit, since they charge around $15 locally to replace watch batteries in water resistant watches. Why buy a new watch battery at $15 every couple of years when you can buy one watch for around $20 and have it last 10 years.

So ... I'm very happy with my new watch and can recommend it to anyone seeking this combination of features. However, there are a few things I learned in shopping for this watch that I thought I'd pass along.

1)BATTERY AND E.L. BACKLIGHT - To the best of my knowledge, Casio does not yet offer a 10 year battery on any watch featuring blue electroluminescent back lighting.I'm assuming it draws too much power to last 10 years.

2)AUTO LIGHT - This watch comes with the option of being able to automatically light the LED light any time you tip the watch toward your face (40 tilt or more), but they warn it will reduce battery life if you use this option.I didn't want or need it, so I leave it turned off.The front mounted button is easy enough for me to use.

3)CRACKING PLASTIC BANDS / RESIN BANDS - In the instruction manual, they explain a great mystery that puzzles me all the MORE for understanding the reasons behind it.I used to love to purchase Casio watches with plastic bodies and bands, but stopped the practice when it became clear I couldn't keep the bands in tact for more than about 18 months. They always cracked and split long before the watch itself died. This was a consistent problem I faced with at least half a dozen such watches.I never knew why they split so badly, but they always did.Well, in the instruction booklet for this all metal watch, they happend to mention that IF you get a plastic (or, as they call it, resin) band for the watch, don't allow it to stay exposed to water or perspiration for long periods of time as it WILL lead to cracking and splitting.I was STUNNED.As a person who perspires freely and lives in a humid climate, this is virtually impossible for me to do any time I'm active for long periods of time.According to the instructions, I should remove the watch if I'm going to be perspiring for long periods of time and dry the watch off when the band does get wet.WHY on earth any company would continue to use a material for wrist bands that their own instruction manuals admit will crack and split with prolonged exposure to water and / or perspiration is beyond me.Anyone out there buying plastic band watches and working in a swimming pool? You might want to go ALL metal.AS far as I know, this must be true for all or most plastic banded watches in the world, as more than just my Casio's have met this fate in the past.I long ago switched to all metal watches and I suggest the industry find a new material that doesn't scream "We want you to buy a new watch every year or two". But that's just me.Or is it?

4) 10 YEAR BATTERIES AND WATER RESISTANCE - One thing that drew me to this watch was it's 10 year battery. As I said before, it never sat well with me to have to drop $15 to have a 2 dollar battery replaced just because the watch requires special handling to preserve it's water seal. But when I read the instructions for this watch, I was very surprised to find that even though it comes with a 10 year battery ... if you want to preserve the water resistent features, you have to have the water seal replaced every 2 to 3 years. Now, this doesn't matter to me personally, as I don't bathe or swim with my watch on, but ... what exactly is the point of making a 10 year battery for a water resistant watch if you have to bring it to someone to replace the seal every 2 to 3 years? I made the 10 year battery a part of my selection process to avoid having to pay someone $15 every 2 to 3 years to open my water resistant watch ... only to find that if water resistance WAS important to me, I'd have to do this anyway.I don't really see the advantage here. So, if water resistance AND a 10 year battery are important to you, you might want to rethink your decision making. If, like me, the water resistance doesn't matter, then feel free to enjoy your 10 year battery as I plan to.

5)SIZING THE METAL WATCH BAND - While I found the manual that came with my 752 very informative, it said absolutely nothing about HOW to adjust the size of the metal band with which it is equipped.I assume this is because the 752 body is available with many different bands. The process isn't all that difficult, but there area few things you'll need to know and to have handy to resize the band. The band itself comes in a size that was about 2 links too large for my medium/large sized wrist. There are two possible downsizing solutions offered:A)Move the mounting pin on the main outer clasp so that the pin rests closer to the push button release and/or B) remove one or more links.

There are 4 sets of holes the mounting pin can rest in.I moved the mounting pin from the position furthest from the push button release to the one closest to it.That cut the "too big" factor by about half.I realized I would also have to remove a link. Here's how to do both:

MOVING THE CLASP MOUNTING PIN

The clasp mounting pin sits between pairs of small holes in the main clasp (4 pairs to choose from).Use a small metal object (fine point metal pencil tip, a thick pin, thumb tack point, tiny tipped scredriver for glasses) and carefully push one end of the pin intward and to one side. This will remove the end of the pin from it's hole, allowing the pin to be wiggled free from between its current pair of holes.BE CAREFUL ... there is a spring inside this mounting pin and if you're not careful, once it's out of it's mounting holes, it may want to SPRING away from you. Once the pin is free, move the pin to one of the pairs of mounting holes you think will work best for your wrist size and place one end into one of the holes.Next, slide the other end of the mounting pin along the inside of the clasp until the other end of the pin pops into the opposing whole of your chosing. The spring inside the pin will allow the free end to compress as you slide it closer to the hole and will then push the end into the hole when you reach it.

REMOVING LINKS

If the band is still too big after moving the mounting pin as far as you can, now it's time to remove a link or two.If you're going to remove links, decide first from which side it will make the most sense to remove the link or links. If you take them front he wrong side, you might find the watch fits perfectly, but sits crooked on your arm. That's what I did the first time. The watch fit fine, but it sat funny on my arm.

To determine on which side it will make the most sense to remove links, put the watch on your wrist and close the clasp and center the clasp on the underside of your arm and check to see where the watch body now sits on your wrist. If it sits more to one side or the other, be sure to remove a link or links that will leave the watch face directly opposite the clasp as much as possible. For example, if, when you put the watch on, the body already sits directly across from the clasp and you need to remove two links, be sure to remove one from each side, or the watch will sit crooked on your arm.

This band comes with a fairly easy to use system for removing (or adding) links.Several links on either side of the clasp feature a hole on the back surface (the side that lays against your skin) into which a very small screwdriver can be inserted.(If you don't have them already, I'd suggest spending a dollar or two on either a glasses repair screwdriver or one of those super small sets of screw drivers you can find in most grocery, drug, electronics and mass merchansizing stores as well as any home improvement center.)Use the smallest diameter screwdriver you can find and insert it into the whole on inside of the link you wish to remove and push very firmly and very carefully in the direction indicated by the arrow that's stamped into the back of the link.(Don't push toward the arrow, push in the same direction indicated by the arrow). If you don't have much hand or arm strength, you may need to have someone else do this for you.By pushing repeatedly and firmly in the direction of the arrow, you'll eventually push the connector piece out one side off the link.Keep pushing until the connector piece extends far enough beyond the end of the...Read more›

Casio Men's Illuminator Sport Watch #W727H-1V Review

Casio Men's Illuminator Sport Watch #W727H-1VThis watch is not flashy. It does its job, and well at that.It keeps time without the glitter of "nice watches." I put it on when I got it, and have since not removed it much. I play soccer in it, sleep in it, shower in it, swim in it, run in it, work in it. It is strikingly weightless on your wrist. Very comfortable as well. It has not disappointed. I have several other watches which I love to look at and keep those for special occasions. Don't expect strangers to complement this piece. Its just not that eye candy. So if functionality and dependability are the priority, you are looking at it.

Casio Men's Ana-Digi Sport Watch #AQ164WD-2AV Review

Casio Men's Ana-Digi Sport Watch #AQ164WD-2AVImpressions after 1 week:

I spent quite a bit of time looking for a watch that has all the features I wanted, and this fit the bill perfectly.I wanted analog + digital so I could have all the "nerdy" features I was after without looking like I'm wearing a "nerd" watch - something that would look as good at a formal dinner party as it would at the beach.I especially like the low-profile buttons on this watch (which work just fine despite their size).

Nuts and bolts: this Casio has 3 alarms (1 snooze), day/date calendar, dual time, multi-lap stopwatch, and most important to me, a countdown timer (why every digital watch doesn't have one in this day and age is beyond me).Note also that there is a digital sweep-second indicator that fills the little "windows" that surround the circumference of the dial. The illumination is of the "indiglo" variety and works great.

I think this watch looks very elegant and it seems to be well made - it has a solid, dependable feel.I really like the cobalt-blue dial (note that you can also get this watch with a white or black dial). The bracelet seems sturdy and well-made and it's comfortable on my wrist. It is not obscenely thick like some of the Casio G-Shock watches that look like you're wearing a small laptop computer on your wrist - nicely proportioned in thickness vs diameter.

Cons - the digital sweep second indicator is really too small and hard to see to be of much use except in the brightest light. The two LCD windows are a bit small if your eyesight is fading (but perfectly fine to my 46-year-old eyes).Note that these LCD windows are behind the analog hands so they will be obscured during certain times of the day, but then again, how often do you have to look up the day/date in a normal day?

Overall, two thumbs way up - I am completely satisfied.Far and away the best watch I found at this price, and I spent weeks looking at Amazon's offerings from Casio, Timex, Citizen, Pulsar, Fossil, and others.

Casio Men's Digital Databank Watch #DB360-1AV Review

Casio Men's Digital Databank Watch #DB360-1AVI've been wearing the watch for about a month now, and it does work very well. A couple of notes aren't well disclosed, however:

- When I bought the watch, I assumed it was an all-metal construction, the pictures make it look like the bezel and the band are both stainless steel. In fact, the band is stainless, but the bezel is a somewhat cheap-looking chromed plastic. Not quite what I had in mind, but you get what you pay for.

- It is far too easy to switch into and out of daylight savings mode - Just holding down one of the buttons for a little over a second switches between them and automatically takes an hour off (or puts one back on) your time...This freaked me out a couple of times until I figured out what was happening.

Overall, a pretty good watch, but it isn't necessarily exactly what it looks.

Casio Men's G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Analog Watch #AWG101-1A Review

Casio Men's G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Analog Watch #AWG101-1AJust got this watch two days ago for a great price and I am very impressed so far. I have a decent collection of watches and this is my first G-Shock. I had been looking awhile for a tough durable watch with atomic timekeeping and solar power, but never really found a G-Shock style that I was completely enamored with. I am a real fan of analog style watches so when I came across this watch I finally knew I found what I was looking for, and let me tell you this watch is even cooler in person. I highly recommend this watch for anyone looking for a analog style G-shock with all the features listed above. My only gripe albeit small, is that I wish it had better illumination at night for the digital dials.

Casio Men's Atomic Tough Solar Waveceptor Sports Watch #WVA320DJ-1E Review

Casio Men's Atomic Tough Solar Waveceptor Sports Watch #WVA320DJ-1EI need a sturdy watch that requires little to no maintenance and keeps accurate time.I also need to display zulu time and local time simultaneously.I need timers. This watch can be set up to do all that.Whats more, once I have it configured, I can see all three at a glance, local time on the analog hands, zulu digital in the window, elapsed time on the rotating bezel!

As for needing sturdy, my previous watch was a Casio Waveceptor battery powered.I had it for 5 years, never had to replace the battery and it worked flawlessly at keeping perfect time. But the case was plastic and the crystal was easily scratched. The plastic case broke and the band fell off.My new watch is 100% stainless steel and the crystal seems to be very high quality, no scratches after one month. The solar feature has no trouble keeping it charged, unlike the lousy motion-generator/condenser system in my Seiko Kinetic.I paid to have the Seiko condenser replaced twice in four years and it needs it again. Those two repairs alone cost more than my new Casio!

Time will tell if the Casio "Tough Solar" really is tough, but I expect it is.

I also should comment that the alarm/signal tones are muffled by the heavy steel case. That is fine with me.I have not used the alarm feature on any of my watches going back to my first digital in the 70's.

Other comments; it has a night light in addition to glow in the dark hands, it looks great and it feels like quality.

I'm very pleased with this watch.

The response is prompt and the tech support staff is courteous and helpful.

Casio Women's Baby-G Clear Whale Digital Sport Watch #BG169R-7B Review

Casio Women's Baby-G Clear Whale Digital Sport Watch #BG169R-7BI got this watch today in the mail and right out of the box I LOVED it! It is a white face with a clear overlay, a clear band, and a white buckle. There is also a stainless steel type ring around the face. It is VERY cute and I was not disappointed in the style. I can wear it with anything.
Out of the box it was set for EST with the correct day. It has instructions so you can change the time based on your time zone and you can also select whether or not it is Daylight Savings Time (DST.) The DST is a great function because you won't have to reset your watch during DST, just press a button and the watch will compensate +/- 1 hour.
There is also the day counter function. This function allows you set a day in the future, for me, since I am currently deployed, would be the day I return from Iraq. You could also use it to set the days until your vacation or a special occasion. It will count down the days you have left until that date. You can set up to 5 special dates.
There is also a World Clock. There are 29 time zones and you can pick the one that best suits your needs. For example, my children are on EST while I'm in Iraq, so I just set the World Clock to NYC Time Zone (East Coast) and I know exactly what time it is when I call there. While it doesn't take much to figure out the time difference, the watch having the exact time is more convenient. There is also an alarm, stopwatch, and a countdown timer that can be set for 1 minute up to 24 hours. There is also the option of a mute button for the operational functions. For example, generally when you push the 'mode' button on a watch to get from the time to say the stopwatch, the watch beeps; you can put that on mute. You will no longer hear a beep when you're scrolling through modes. The alarm, hourly beep, and countdown timer all still function normally.
The last thing is a data bank. You can store up to 25 records, each with a name and phone number. I'm still not sure what to do with this, seeing as most people have cell phones these days. I guess of you forget your cell phone and you need to write down a number you could just put the name and number in your watch.
As far as construction goes, I obviously haven't had this particular watch that long, but from what I understand G-Shocks are basically indestructible. I also know someone who has the same watch battery since 1996. He hasn't had to replace the battery in 13 years!
I am looking forward to a long life with this watch. The only downfall may be that I have heard the clear band may yellow with prolonged exposure to the sun and water. I would recommend this watch to anyone!

Casio Men's G-Shock Riseman Alti-Therm Solar Atomic Watch #GW9200-1 Review

Casio Men's G-Shock Riseman Alti-Therm Solar Atomic Watch #GW9200-1By bringing together the toughness of a G-Shock and the core features of a Pathfinder/ProTrek, the Riseman is doubtlessly the best G-Shock on the market.

The Riseman is a technological tank: wrapped in a solid, eye-pleasing, and elaborate shield with brushed steel inserts is a high precision measurement instrument that gives very reliable readings of barometric pressure, altitude, temperature as well as reasonably accurate weather patterns. Fascinatingly, the watch gets its energy from the sun (or other minor sources of light, such as a bulb) and is the first watch in the world to synchronize time via radio waves from 6 different atomic clocks around the world (depending on your location). Other handy features: 24+ world times, 24hr stopwatch, 24hr countdown and 5 alarms.

The use of screen space in the main timekeeping mode is exceptional as it includes, besides the time, day & date, a 2-hourly reading of atmospheric pressure within the "red eye". This gives you an immediate idea of where the weather is going and adds a totally new spin on owning a watch that measures atmospheric pressure. The time is also displayed in all modes (except the altim.)

I found the Riseman extremely comfortable to wear throughout the day even in hot/humid weather thanks to the design of the band and despite its important size it is rarely invasive. The overall feel of the watch in your hands, and on your wrist, conveys the high quality of the materials used to achieve toughness as well as its unique look.

With its Gotham City inspired design, its cutting-edge features and its "battle proven" armor, the G-Shock GW9200 Riseman is definitely destined to become a milestone and a classic Master of G.

Casio Women's Solar Atomic Waveceptor Sports Watch #LWAM140-7A Review

Casio Women's Solar Atomic Waveceptor Sports Watch #LWAM140-7AI'd almost given up shopping for a new watch for my wife when the lady at Sears pointed out this new arrival. Why hasn't Casio figured out women want small AND atomic, solar, an on/off light and waterproof earlier. My wife is forever asking me the accurate time as my Pathfinder resets atomically every night. Baby G's don't have solar and atomic, and "jelly" series is too big as are most for women. Small Baby G's are cheap etc. Doesn't Casio realize changing a battery loses a watches waterproof characteristics and basically trashes it? This watch looks much better in person than picture here. She loves the white band and the thing is SMALL. We went to many stores at the Mall and asked for these features available in men's watches all day long. Fact it has analog face plus small digital readout is a plus. Thanks Casio for finally waking up to what women want!

Product Description:
With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.

In developing its own wristwatches Casio began with the basic question, "What is a wristwatch?" Rather than simply making a digital version of the conventional mechanical watch, we thought that the ideal wristwatch should be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way. Based on this, Casio was able to create a watch that displayed the precise time including the second, minute, hour, day, and month - not to mention a.m. or p.m., and the day of the week. It was the first watch in the world with a digital automatic calendar function that eliminated the need to reset the calendar due the variation in month length. Rather than using a conventional watch face and hands, a digital liquid crystal display was adopted to better show all the information. This culminated in the 1974 launch of the CASIOTRON, the world's first digital watch with automatic calendar. The CASIOTRON won acclaim as a groundbreaking product that represented a complete departure from the conventional wristwatch.

Casio transformed the concept of the watch - from a mere timepiece to an information device for the wrist - and undertook product planning based on this innovative idea. We developed not only time functions such as global time zone watches, but also other radical new functions using Casio's own digital technology, including calculator and dictionary functions, as well as a phonebook feature based on memory technology, and even a thermometer function using a built-in sensor. The memory-function watches became our DATA BANK product series, while the sensor watches developed into two unique Casio product lines of today: the Pathfinder series displaying altitude, atmospheric pressure, and compass readings.

In 1983, Casio launched the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch. This product shattered the notion that a watch is a fragile piece of jewelry that needs to be handled with care, and was the result of Casio engineers taking on the challenge of creating the world's toughest watch. Using a triple-protection design for the parts, module, and case, the G-SHOCK offered a radical new type of watch that was unaffected by strong impacts or shaking. Its practicality was immediately recognized, and its unique look, which embodied its functionality, became wildly popular, resulting in explosive sales in the early 1990s. The G-SHOCK soon adopted various new sensors, solar-powered radio-controlled technology (described below), and new materials for even better durability. By always employing the latest technology, and continuing to transcend conventional thinking about the watch, the G-SHOCK brand has become Casio's flagship timepiece product.

Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, and the radio-controlled function means users never have to reset the time. In particular, the radio-controlled function represents a revolution in time-keeping technology similar to the impact created when mechanical watches gave way to quartz technology. Through the further development of high radio-wave sensitivity, miniaturization, and improved energy efficiency, Casio continues to produce a whole range of radio-controlled models.

Casio Women's Classic Analog Watch #LQ139A-7B3 Review

Casio Women's Classic Analog Watch #LQ139A-7B3I was thrilled to find a source for an all plastic watch that doesn't look so bulky. I'm HARD on watches so have learned not to spend a lot of money on them. But I'm also allergic to cheap metals (the kind they make the clasps with on cheap watches) so when I discovered all plastic watches a few years ago I was happy. But then the store here quit carrying them. :-( So I was glad to find just what I wanted on Amazon!

Casio Men's Illuminator Sport Watch #W87H-1V Review

Casio Men's Illuminator Sport Watch #W87H-1VOver the years, I have bought nothing but this particular watch. I got my first 6 years ago, and had it for 4 years until it met its end in the washing machine. I drove over the second (whoops!) and am now on the third. The reason I keep coming back to this particular watch is that it is rediculously easy to set and use. In the traditional time mode, there is an option for 10 seconds of backlighting, and a toggle between 12 and 24 hour mode. Press "mode" and you continue on to the alarm settings. You can toggle the alarm on and off, as well as set a chime for the hour. The exact same process is followed to set the alarm as to set the time. Press 'light', then use the 12/24 button to increment the fields, and 'light' to continue through all the fields. If you changed anyhting, pressing mode returns you to the time, otherwise, pressing mode again takes you on to the timer. 12/24 starts the timer, light spltis the time, and 12/24 again stops the timer. Pressing light while stopped clears the entry. Pressing mode returns you to the time if you used the timer, otherwise, it continues on to the set-time screen. This behaves the same as the set alarm screen, except you also set the date here.
After 6 years of using this model watch, I have found exactly two problems.
1) The date didn't increment to Feb 29, 2000. It went to March 1, 2000. But I was able to manually set it, and it's been fine ever since. We'll see what happens Feb 29, 2004.
2) My first one had a type of cloth for the wristband. It wore out relatively quickly, leaving me with the watch but no band. The plastic/rubbery band is much more durrable.
But the positives are much more numerous:
1) Extremely easy to set.
2) Batteries have never wore out on me, and I use the backlight frequently.
3) Nice backlight.
4) Logical "menus"
5) Intuitive navigation - I am a computer programmer, but I've had other digital watches that I could not navigate through with the manual. This one is usable without a manual.
6) Year 2000 compatible! :)
This watch is worth far more than Amazon (or anyone, for that matter) charges for it.

Casio Women's Baby-G Atomic Timekeeping Watch #BG1500A-7B Review

Casio Women's Baby-G Atomic Timekeeping Watch #BG1500A-7BI received this today and was a little shocked by the wide white brightness of the band. It looks somewhat opaque blue in the picture, but is actually bright bright white as described. I guess it could be changed if my vanity overcomes me. On the other hand, it took 2 seconds to figure the multitude of cool gadgets out and THE coolest thing is seeing the hands of the watch turn by themselves when you select which city you live in. So fun!

I had an officer's Swiss Army watch for ten years before it suddenly stopped working- instead of getting it fixed (no it wasn't a battery issue) I thought I could use in my life as a mother/graduate student/ etc. etc. a watch with an alarm , date, timer... I am glad to make the transition to practicality (at least with my watch).

Casio Women's Digital Turquoise Resin Strap Watch #LDF20-3AV Review

Casio Women's Digital Turquoise Resin Strap Watch #LDF20-3AVI really loved this watch at first.I wore it all day, every day and it never bothered me.It has so many great features. The only problem is, is that I have really sensitive skin and the armband part gets dirty easily. After it got dirty my wrist started to break out and get itchy.

I've read others have a problem with a dirty armband after a while.I had it for 6 months before it started bothering me, so it was a good deal for that much. I really loved this watch.

Casio Men's Edifice 10-Year-Battery Analog Bracelet Watch #EF106D-2AV Review

Casio Men's Edifice 10-Year-Battery Analog Bracelet Watch #EF106D-2AV(Note: This review is for the above watch's predecessor.I've owned the watch for 12 years and it still runs, so I thought I'd contribute my two cents based upon my experience.)

The watch I own is exactly the same as this one except its watchband links are slightly different and the date window is at 3 rather than 4.Other than that, it's the exact same watch.I bought it 12 years ago and it still runs perfectly (its accuracy is about -1 minute per month).I've dropped it multiple times, accidentally sent it through the washing machine several times, scraped it, knocked it around, etc. and it still looks good. The crystal is very scratch-resistant.The band is comfortable and the clasp still holds firmly.Considering I purchased it so long ago and it was probably on the store shelf a while, I'm amazed the battery hasn't died.

Although many would undoubtedly love this watch, I particularly recommend it for those who work with their hands such as landscapers, mechanics, plumbers, etc. It's handsome enough to look professional for clients and rugged enough to really take a beating. Also, it's thin enough that it lays on the wrist without getting in the way of what you're doing and it's not heavy.

If there's a better watch value out there, I'm not aware of it.Highly recommended.

Casio Women's Digital White Resin Strap Watch #LW200-7AV Review

Casio Women's Digital White Resin Strap Watch #LW200-7AVI really like the fact that it's got a lot of functions, the only real problem I had with it is if you're trying to do anything with it in the dark the backlight doesn't work when you push another button. This makes setting my alarm in my dark room at night impossible. The only other thing I didn't like was that I have it on 24 hour time, but if I press just one button accidentally, it goes to 12 hour time, throwing me off a little bit.Other than that it's a great watch, the features are really nice and I love the color.

Casio Men's Solar Atomic Metal Watch #WVM120DJ-7 Review

Casio Men's Solar Atomic Metal Watch #WVM120DJ-7I have owned this watch for about three months now, and love it. The solar power feature never lets the battery die. The shape of the watch makes is less easy to scratch. The screen layout is great and easy to read. Also, it has five alarm clocks to remind me to do different things. And of course, like any other Casio WaveCeptor watch, it is water proof and sets it's self and updates three times a day. This watch is priced very low for how well it functions. I highly recommend buying this product.

Casio Men's Ana-Digi 10-Year Battery Watch #AW81D-1AV Review

Casio Men's Ana-Digi 10-Year Battery Watch #AW81D-1AVSo far this watch works just as advertised. A lot of things to program but once you get used to it, no problems. I have not had it long enough to see if loses any time, but I have not noticed any differences from the other clocks and computers I am around. For the price (and if you are not expecting a whole lot) this is an excellent bargain.

Casio Men's 10-Year Battery Analog Sport Watch #HDA600-1BV Review

Casio Men's 10-Year Battery Analog Sport Watch #HDA600-1BVI bought this a few months ago for my husband, to use as a work watch. His job is highway construction, and he is VERY rough on his watches...he typically goes through a couple a year.Normally the crystals of the watch crack quickly, he breaks the band, or busts off the stem.

So far, this watch is holding up impeccably well...and it still looks new, with one small exception. The black 'crystal protector' (not sure what you call that thing), is slightly scratched. But he did that by abusing it at work.

Casio Men's Sea Pathfinder Tide Watch #SPF40-1V Review

Casio Men's Sea Pathfinder Tide Watch #SPF40-1VThis is an excellent watch for outdoorsy types, especially for those who sail, kayak or surf. With a compass, barometer, thermometer, and tide/moon tracking, it provides essential (potentially life-saving) information in an easy to use package.

The compass is seems accurate and is easy to calibrate. It is ideally suited for emergency navigation and for casual use such as trail hiking and river boating. I'm not sure I'd want to use it as my only compass for serious hiking or over the horizon boating, but perhaps that's just my distrust of electronics in mission critical environments.

The barometer is a little more hit-or-miss. It's accuracy is questionable given its fluctuation with altitude or temperature. This is not a Casio problem - it happens with all barometers especially wrist-mounted. Despite these issues the barometrer does a fair job of tracking the trend over the last 24 hours. Serious moutaineers may miss the multi-day tracking and using the barometer as altimeter, but most will appreciate it for the simple data it provides. I wish there were more display options, like a large multiday graph option for instance, but the small graph is fine.

Temp fluctuates when this is worn on the wrist, but not too much - perhaps a couple of degrees hotter than true outside temperature. It may be less accurate in cold temperatures than hot, but I'll have to wait a few months to test that theory.

The tide and moon features are what make this watch unique among triple-sensor watches, so I imagine that will be a key selling point for most. Both work well enough, though they will not replace a tide chart. The tide graph shows the general point in the cycle, but not with great accuracy. It's really only possible to estimate high tide with an hour or two. It would be nice of the actual hightide time were displayed or at least the graph had greater specificity. The moon tracking is a nice touch, since it allows one to estimate the size of the tides (spring and neap). But it's only an estimate - the watch does not tie moon and tide data together, leaving it to the user to figure it out. Some other tide watches actually have charts built-in that provide much more accurate data for particlar beaches, but are limited to limited spots. Since the Casio use longitude and other data to estimate the tide, it is less accurate for specific spots but more usefull overall. The ability to forcast the moon phase days in the future, but not to do the same for tide, leaves me wondering what they were thinking.

Other features of the watch include a countdown timer, stopwatch, and five alarms, which are all just fine. The five alarms cannot be set by day, but I suppose if you want to set a time for each day and just activate it as necessary that does the job. If you use the stopwatch and coundown timers frequently you may find switching between the two annoying, since they use the same function (you just set the the countdown timer to zero to put it in stopwatch mode). Also there are no lap-timers.

Downsides to the watch basically boil down to compleixity and size. While the watch is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it, it is not entirely intuitive an all screens, and requires some memorization. Setting the tide data requires far too much research on the internet, and casio should provide better data either in the manual or on their website about how to set the data for most large coastal cities and popular recreation areas. The size of the watch is HUGE. It is larger even than the Suunto watches with similar features. The biggest annoyance I have with the size is the height, which is made unnecisarily taller by the rotating bezel. But for some the size won't matter (some may like it) so it is really a matter of taste.

Overall the eatch offers a great set of tools for most casual uses and does it at a very reasonable price. I recommend it to casual adventurers unconcerned about the size.

Casio Women's Electro-Luminescent Analog Watch #LQ140-1B Review

Casio Women's Electro-Luminescent Analog Watch #LQ140-1BI was looking for a simple, inexpensive analog watch that was water resistant and had indiglo (or whatever Casio calls its version of the blue light). This watch arrived yesterday and seems to be perfect. One reviewer complained that the watch was too small, but for me it's just right; I don't like clunky watches. It's too soon to report on durability and reliability, but I've had good luck with Casio in the past. Am very happy to have this watch for this price.
