Casio Men's Solar Atomic Resin Strap Watch #WVM120J-1 Review

Casio Men's Solar Atomic Resin Strap Watch #WVM120J-1Some time ago I have sworn that I will only use solar-powered watches that synchronize time with atomic clocks. Initially only quite expensive and 'stylish' models were available, but wearing a timepiece worth several hundred bucks while doing work around the house makes you constantly worried that you scratch precious thing.
This watch is under $100 and has all the benefits of its more expensive 'brothers':
- Solar powered quite efficiently - with normal daily exposure to light I'm always at the 'max charge' level (of course living in sunny Nevada helps here).
- Time synchronization with the 5 radio transmitters all over the world (USA, England, Germany, Japan*2). I frequently travel to visit family in Europe, so USA and England/Germany transmitter sync is important to me. Many watches in the US only sync with USA transmitter or USA and Japan; the latest models just started supporting new China transmitters; this one is the perfect balance for me.
- Time signal reception is excellent in Nevada, bot inside the buildings and outside. From my previous experiences it should mean good reception throughout the West Coast and (maybe!) some problems inside solid-construction buildings in New England and Florida.
- Unlike some cheap models of watches and clocks, this one reads Daylight Savings Time data straight from the radio signal, so it 'springs ahead' and 'falls back' at the correct dates. Some older clocks have hard-coded DST transition dates and are confused after the recent DST changes in the USA.
- I love 'Auto EL' feature: the watch turns on Electro-Luminescent backlight for two seconds when it is dark and the wearer positions hand appropriately. Perfect for the movies, night flights and similar situations.
- I usually prefer metal bands, but resin band in this model is surprisingly good quality and wears OK.
- Button operation seems to be reliable so far.
- The glass is scratch resistant and placed recessed in the metal panel - so far I managed to keep it clear, which is unusual for me.

Amazon had the best price for this item, better than Fry's and Casio website. The watch arrived on time and in good shape.

Casio Men's Classic Digital Bracelet Watch #A158W-1 Review

Casio Men's Classic Digital Bracelet Watch #A158W-1Thin, comfortable watch. It has a "geek sheik retro" thing happening.

I bought it as an extra watch for wearing to the gym only. But have found myself wearing it nearly all the time.

Don't let the low price make you think this is a flimsy watch; it's not. This is a quality watch.

I personally like the loud 80's-like "beep" it gives when you press the buttons. It gives a similiar loud "beep-beep" on-the-hour if you set it to do that.

WatchZone was the seller, through Amazon.com, and for whatever reason they FedEx 2-day'd the watch to me for no extra charge. Your mileage may vary, but I was impressed.

Casio Men's Waveceptor Atomic Digital Watch #WV58A-1AV Review

Casio Men's Waveceptor Atomic Digital Watch #WV58A-1AVThis watch has the features, weight/feel that I wanted for work. (HEMS)
The "atomic time" feature coincides exactly with our helicopter's Garmin 530 radios. The backlight lasts long enough after pressing to write down and view times without repeating over and over again. The only reason I gave a 3/5 is the watch arrived without instructions.None.
I do not know if that was a Seller issue (Chelsea) or Manufacturer. (Casio)I have enough gadgetology experience that I could eventually figure it out.I prefer instructions and if I cannot find any on-line, it may take a while.(Syncing the radio signal, changing from Central Time to Pacific, changing the 12 hr format to 24 hr, etc.)Overall, this is exactly what I have been looking for.

Addendum:Go to Casio's website.Enter in the 4 (or 3) digit number from the back of your watch and it has a library of all the relevant instructions manuals in pDF format.Which, come to think of it, is a little easier to read than those manuals they usually put under the display box.But it is an additional hassle if you don't have internet access.

Casio General Men's Watches Edifice Chronograph EF-503D-1AVDF - WW Review

Casio General Men's Watches Edifice Chronograph EF-503D-1AVDF - WWI purchased this watch for myself about 2 months ago. I challenge anyone to find a better looking watch in this price range. It looks like a million bucks! I love the red hands, the chrome rings around the chronograph dials, the illumination tick marks, and how comfortable it is to wear. It's heavier than it looks, but not at all clumsy or bulky. It's a great watch to wear everyday, or for when you need to dress up.
I had actually chipped the crystal about 1 month after getting it. I sent it to Casio, and they repaired it under warranty. I also have a more expensive Seiko chronograph watch similar in style, and I think this Casio is a better looking watch.
I love my EF503D. I didn't think it was possible to get such a great looking watch for this kind of money. So why not 5 stars? I do feel like the crystal chipped and scratched too easily, but for this price, maybe it's what I should expect.

Casio Men's Dress watch #A168WG9 Review

Casio Men's Dress watch #A168WG9The style of the watch is great. Not for everybody but perfect for some, like me. It gets some laughs because it is gold (in color) but just a basic casio digital. Its kind of a gag but very stylish to me. You will probably be the only person you know wearing one of these. I particularly like the flat gold colored plastic face, which is a nice subtle contrast with the shiny golden metal. In the 10 or 12 months that I have been wearing it the time has never wavered. The full-screen blue backlight is nice looking and fun, but it stopped working shortly after I got it, then suddenly started working again briefly, and now never works. (still keeping time perfectly though) I bought it here on Amazon, but it is not stocked by Amazon. I think these ones for sale are old stock, with batteries running all the while. ...Also, having not been very careful and washing my hands often at work, the watch has tarnished on many of the edges. I havent looked closely, but it appears irreversable. Still, this is my favorite watch ever, and I'm about to buy another. I thought I would alternate with the casio calculator watch I bought around the same time, but my habit quickly became wearing this gold one all the time.

Casio Women's Daily Alarm Digital Watch #LA670WA-1 Review

Casio Women's Daily Alarm Digital Watch #LA670WA-1This watch is available under the heading: Casio Women's Digital Watch #LA670WA-1 Ladies' dress watch, under which there more more reviews, and I already added mine there.

To reitereate, this is a very smart & sweet looking watch, and also is all metal and digital, which are both rare at this size. However, the negative aspects are: no light, no date, and the clasp comes apart very easily. The description gives the erroneous impression the strap is the expansion type, but in fact it is a metal strap with a clasp that can slide up & down one arm, to a length that fits you.

I can see why one of the previous reviewers lost her watch: it is very easy not to snap the clasp closed properly. It came apart on me more than once and, the watch being so light, it is quite easy not to notice it has gone!

I like the watch but am very disappointed with the strap. I did consider getting a genuine expansion one which was what I had been looking for, but this turned out to cost more the the watch itself! If, like me, you are looking for a watch with an expansion type strap, Timex does them much better but unfortunately, and disappointingly, does not do them in digital form....

Casio Men's Waveceptor Atomic Dual-Time Watch #WVQ400J-1 Review

Casio Men's Waveceptor Atomic Dual-Time Watch #WVQ400J-1I was disgusted with TAG Heuer for no longer making repair parts for my favorite old watch. I was even willing to spend the ridiculous money they asked for replacing the battery and gaskets... about $100 every two years. I'll never get another TAG since they don't support their customers.

So... I looked all over, did lots of research, and found this watch had everything I was after. I love the solar power (no battery to replace) and the atomic clock synchronization (no more monthly date-changes or DST adjustments).

I found it quite easy to set up. Yes, you MUST read the manual but it's logical and easy to follow. Don't go pushing buttons without knowing for certain what you're doing and you should be okay. I especially like the setting that automatically turns on the dial lamp when it's dark and I tilt my wrist... it's totally cool. So in addition to solar power and atomic reception, it's got a tilt-angle sensor. Amazing.

The watch looks great... Amazon is selling it at a really good price: a bit over half what Casio lists it for.

My only wish is that they offered the watch with a stainless link band. I'm concerned that the weakest aspect of this is the rubber band. It's comfortable and looks fine, but I worry it'll break where I bend it back to insert the tab every time I put it on. And it's not a standard attachment, so there may be no repair option.

ADDITIONAL COMMENT AFTER LIVING WITH IT FOR SEVERAL MONTHS:
I still like this watch, but wanted to share one problem that's popped up. The large buttons on the bezel are TOO EASY TO PUSH INADVERTENTLY. Meaning, simply by bending my hand back, I can end up changing the time zone or setting off a timer. As I type this, the date has been replaced by the time zone indicator. I now must find the manual (at home in my bedside table) to resume normal timekeeping functions. This happens a LOT! I can only hope Casio designers check these listings and will create a future version with a twist-stem that locks to replace these big, fat buttons.

Otherwise, I love the watch. At such a great price, I can't justify downgrading from 5 to 4 stars.

Casio Men's G-Shock Atomic Tough Solar Watch #GW330A-9V Review

Casio Men's G-Shock Atomic Tough Solar Watch #GW330A-9VHere's a G-shock about as close to perfect as a digital watch gets, always accurate to the second and no battery to replace ever.

I've been an enthusiastic collector of Casio G-shocks since about 1987 when I got an original DW-5600. This tough-looking black monster is still going strong after about 17 years.

We G-shock fans have watched them evolve over time in size, shape, color, and function. Now comes the atomic solar model that links up by satelite to the NIST atomic clock and resets to the second every night automatically. No-set accuracy together with no-battery-hassle solar power make this come as close to being the best digital watch I've ever worn.

It's got all the classic funtions you've come to expect in every G-shock: pinpoint timekeeping, multiple alarms and top-of the-hour beep, stopwatch, countdown timer, and illuminator. In addition to these, I've really grooved on the world time function on a couple of trips overseas. About 34 world cities and times zones mean that there's nowhere you can go that this watch wouldn't keep you on track without any cumbersome resetting as you cross the zones. And tough? I don't think you would be able to destroy it.

And it does all this while looking cool! A bit more sleek in form, this watch isn't quite as bulky as some G-shocks but still has the chunky ruggedness that will give you just the right trendy "look".For a year of so now, I've been enjoying two earlier version, one with a black case with red accents and another great looking navy blue with steel accents. So when I noticed this new dramatic looking black and gold g-shock, I couldn't wait to get it too. I'm already liking it as much as the others.

If you like G-shocks, this one's even better. It will get notice from your gadget-crazy friends too. It seems I'm often showing it off to questions about the atomic function as well as comments like, "nice watch!".

Never tried a G-shock? You'll like this one. Looking for the perfect hassle-free watch? Here you go.

Casio Men's G-Shock Mudman Solar Atomic Watch #GW9000A-1 Review

Casio Men's G-Shock Mudman Solar Atomic Watch #GW9000A-1This is my first review on the Amazon facility so, be kind to me.I have had my GW9000 for about 4 weeks now and I'm very happy with it.The solar and atomic features perform as advertised.I love a watch that keeps near perfect time and requires nothing from me except to place it near a window at night.Mine even syncs when I am wearing it.The solar feature works very well alsoAgain, not much for me to do except get it in the sun from time-to-time.

The solar/atomic Mudman is also quite comfortable. The strap is much softer and pliable than that on my old DW6900.Instead of having the stainless steel case back resting directly on the wrist, the Mudman has some little rubber nubs that rest on the wrist. This allows air to pass between the watch back and the wrist making for a cooler more comfortable experience.

The watches timekeeping features are the usual array of date, time, alarms, etc.All in all, a good rugged watch.

Casio Men's G-Shock Ana-Digi Solar Atomic Watch #GW1500A-1AVThe atomic function makes this about as accurate as a watch can be.The other functions work okay.Solar energy is nice - never need to worry about a battery.World time is a waste. There are better stop watch functions out there if that is important to you - it is not to me.Coolest feature may be that it automatically illuminates at night when you turn your wrist to look at the time.

This is a HUGE watch.Sits high on the wrist - many long sleeve shirts will not button with this watch on.

Casio Men's G-Shock Atomic Tough Solar Watch #GW5600J-1 Review

Casio Men's G-Shock Atomic Tough Solar Watch #GW5600J-1Way back in 1982, I bought one of the first Casio 5000 models. It was incredibly accurate, easy to use, had a countdown timer (which I used a lot) and seemed set to last for ever. In 1988 I crashed my motorcycle, and smashed the crystal on my watch. I threw it in a drawer, bought a new cheap casio (with less functions) and carried on. 3 years later I found the smashed one in the back of the drawer. It was still working and only wrong by 15 seconds! I've had various other watches since then, (really missed the countdown timer), but the Casio G-shocks were all way too thick to suit me. I really fancied the new Solar Powered and Atomic Clock synced Casios, but they were still too thick (and didn't have a countdown timer).
Then I found the GW5600J. Based on the old 5000 series, Atomic, Solar Powered, 5 alarms and a countdown timer, full backlight. And the same style and thickness as my old 5000! Not thin, but not ridiculous either.
I've had it a week now, I love it, I expect it to last the rest of my life (this sucker is tough), and neat, clear, easy to use and accurate!
If you like digital watches (as opposed to analog), this is the one.

Casio Men's Slide Rule Bezel Analog Chronograph Aviator Watch #MTP4500D-1AV Review

Casio Men's Slide Rule Bezel Analog Chronograph Aviator Watch #MTP4500D-1AVI recently bought this watch because my old watch was pretty much gone. I was initially drawn to the classy design that is complex yet not crowded, a look that I really like personally. Watch fits perfectly after I removed a few links, which was rather difficult. I have a fairly large wrist and had to adjust the clasp to its smallest setting and remove two links, so be prepared. I was using a tack and an ink pen to remove the link pins so that's probably why it was difficult. Which dial was which did befuddle me a bit but I finally figured out that the larger second hand was actually the one for the stopwatch, not the smaller top dial. Overall great watch and I really like how it fits my wrist. The case is big enough to not feel puny yet thin enough to not feel bulky. Solid feeling stainless construction is a plus. The sliding bezel is very nice and smooth, doesn't click like most watches... That could be a positive or negative, depends on one's tastes, personally it didn't really matter to me. The bezel does stay in place well even without clicks. Can't really think of anything else to write, overall great watch, great price, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Casio Men's Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Ultimate Watch #PAW1500T-7V Review

Casio Men's Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Ultimate Watch #PAW1500T-7VThis watch has about all the gimmicks you could want in a watch. Well, perhaps a GPS, heart rate monitor and MP3 player would be nice inclusions... However, it is solar-powered with a generous battery reserve and should never die with normal light exposure. I've never seen my battery level fall below H (high). It has a thermometer, barometer, altimeter, compass, moonphase indicator, tide chart, automatic synchronization with international atomic clock radio broadcasts and the standard multi-function watch stuff like stopwatch, world time, etc.

That's all fine and dandy, but let's face it, this is NOT a precise instrument.

The compass is surprisingly consistent, though I did have to calibrate it away from the factory preset initially. I feel this feature is the watch's strongest feature due to its accuracy and the fact that it could someday save your life. Still, it's not perfect. The compass display only lasts a few seconds, so you can't use it like a real compass.

The barometer also is quite consistent once calibrated, though I have seen errors of 2 hPa in either direction.

Thermometer is rather fickle if the watch is being worn on skin. I've noticed as much as 5 degrees Fahrenheit error in either direction. It's typically within 1 F degree either way. Have never verified the thermometer's accuracy when not being worn, so can't comment on that.

Altimeter gives decent approximation. I live at sea level and get readings as low as -10 meters and as high as 10 meters while at sea level. Typically it reads 0 or 5 meters. On a recent trip about 250 miles from home, with the watch calibrated at my home's sea level, I reached a peak altitude of 1195 meters, according to the watch. On my descent, I compared the watch's altitude reading with a posted USGS altitude sign. At 457.2 meters (1500 feet) the watch read a pretty consistent 420 meters.

The moonphase indicator is, of course, very accurate.

Tide charting leaves much to be desired. It calculates first high tide to within 20 minutes. Pretty good. However, this is the only actual high or low tide to be seen and to actually see the actual time, you must go into the Adjust mode. The actual graphing of the tides is sloppy and inaccurate. A dot-plotted chart like that used for the barometer should be incorporated. The 2-hour increments of the present graph also hinder true accuracy. Also, this mode ALWAYS defaults to showing tide at 6:00 am. This time can be adjusted manually each time you enter the mode, but the default time CANNOT be changed. Tide charting is the watch's weakest feature.

Rather disappointed with the atomic clock synchronization too. I live in HNL, one of the listed time zones that should be able to receive atomic calibration. Has not happened yet, after over a month. When I try to manually synchronize, I get a level 1 (low, but existent) signal indication, but no synchronization. Frustrating.

It's also a little disappointing that a "titanium" watch has a PLASTIC shell and stainless back and presumably a something-other-than-titanium case. The band does appear to be legitimate titanium but I wouldn't be surprised if it's titanium-plated aluminum or something. This watch, despite it's substantial bulkiness, is very light. My Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk, which is TRULY a titanium watch and is notably smaller, is noticeably heavier.

All in all, it's a cool watch. It's very stylish for a digital watch. It's comfortable. It's very durable. And you'll always have reasonable accuracyfrom any function (maybe not with tide charting), with a good compass. Worth the Amazon price, but not the suggested retail price.

Casio Men's Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Ultimate Watch #PAW1500-1V Review

Casio Men's Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Ultimate Watch #PAW1500-1VPicked up this watch last week (found it somewhere else for a for a bit cheaper) and loving it. The watch has all the functions mentioned and all work smoothly. The only thing to note is that the watch case itself is a mix of dark green and black (it's hard to make out in photos). Keep that in mind if you're "fashion conscious," didn't bother me one bit. The watch is a little on the large side so if you've got a very small wrist it might be huge on you. I'm a lefty and wear it on my right wrist and have no problem with button operations. For some reason the moon display was reversed but the documentation explained how to fix that quickly. Like all temperature sensing watches, your measurements will be off if you try taking a reading with it on your wrist (body heat and all). Everything else appears accurate. The radio receiver has worked flawlessly every night, even receiving a signal with the watch deep inside my house.

Pros:
Watch has everything except a GPS!
Solar powered, don't worry about batteries.
Large, easy to read numbers.
Bright backlight, auto backlight if you enable it.
Calendar programmed until 2099.
Great water/depth resistance (200m).

Cons:
Large size (only a problem if you have a small wrist).
Disclaimers in manual to take all readings with a grain of salt (not meant as professional quality measurements).
Two-tone case (dark green and black, why not just back?).
Non-standard watch bands, can't swap it out easily for non-Casio band.

Casio Men's Forester Sports Thermometer Watch #AQF100W-7BV Review

Casio Men's Forester Sports Thermometer Watch #AQF100W-7BVAfter reading the reviews on here, I was a bit hesitant about buying this watch. I have had other Casio thermometer watches in the past, and was able to calibrate them to the accurate temperature while on my wrist. Despite all the reviews complaining about the inaccuracy of the temp, THIS WATCH IS NO DIFFERENT. All that needs to be done is to get a temp reading with another thermometer, and then program this watch according to the instruction booklet. That's it. It's reading temperature very accurately as I type. Yes, the instruction booklet is complicated (the PDF version from Casio.com is MUCH easier to follow), but it is worth it!

Casio Men's Pathfinder Moon Phase Hunting Timer Watch Review

Casio Men's Pathfinder Moon Phase Hunting Timer WatchI bought this watch for one reason: to wake me up in the morning -- but without waking my wife at the same time.I avoid the usual alarms that sound off -- I want a "private" alarm that wakes only me.This vibrating watch does this perfectly. It has at least 4 alarms, and I use 3 to wake me in 10 minute intervals, to be sure I come awake.Once you know the sequence of buttons to push, it's easy to set the alarm and to turn them off (for example, at the weekend, when I sleep later). The construction is good, the backlighting is good, and the strap is very strong and easy to fasten (with Velcro).I don't use this for "hunting," which is the purpose given to this watch -- there are all kinds of other functions avauilable that I don't use.But for my purposes, it is perfect.

Casio Men's Active Dial Multi-Task Gear Sport Watch #AQW101-1ACF Review

Casio Men's Active Dial Multi-Task Gear Sport Watch #AQW101-1ACFI like inexpensive sports watches.I can't bring myself to wear a watch to impress, and can't imagine wanting a fancy (and expensive) one.I'm like my dad: when it comes to watches I prefer function to form.I like the digital time, the digital timer and the stopwatch.Unlike my dad, however, who for several years (to my mother's chagrin) wore a calculator watch everywhere he went (God rest his soul, I loved the man), I do like it to look good.

I needed a new watch, and wanted to get one that had both a digital readout and hands.I'm not sure why such watches even exist, but I think they look good, and I'm really happy about this watch.I think it looks good on me, and fits well (and I'm a very tall guy, with big wrists) and it has all the functions I could ever want in a watch (timer, alarm and stopwatch, etc.) plus a few more (the compass dial is a fake, though, and this won't give you directions). It reads temperature (though for that it's only an accurate reading if you take it off, since body heat messes with it, though you can adjust for that if you like - I haven't bothered). It shows you the phase of the moon, if you can believe that. But the real showstopper with this watch is the "good fishing" indicator, that varies between one fish and four: when all four leaping fish are lit up, that means (I guess) that you can't miss.I haven't tested the accuracy of its predictions yet and don't know enough (or care) to adjust it.As it turns out, I was surprised by this feature (I guess I didn't read the ad very clearly, mostly looked at the title and the picture, and the price was right and it looks nice). Still, I take some measure of confidence in knowing that if there were a global meltdown, and the local grocery stores were to run out of food, and if I ever got around to buying the proper gear, I'd then have a leg up on all the rest of the sorry sots who don't have a fish predictor built into their watch.

Casio Men's Forester Sports Thermometer Watch #AQF100WD-9BV Review

Casio Men's Forester Sports Thermometer Watch #AQF100WD-9BVRecieved as stated. The watch is super, when going thru the digital features, i.e; temp, alarm, world time and other features, the analog dials reflected the current time always, this is the greatest feature I like. The watch, band and all of the features under the glass has the look. The watch reflects it is resistance to 100 meters, will find out this summer, but it worked great while out in the rain. Setup features were easy for me once you get the hang of it, it took a few trys to set up the world time, and when Daylight Savings time kicked in, it worked, including changing from 2006 to 2007.Again - Hats off to Casio, another great time piece.

Casio Men's Analog Watch #MQ24-1E Review

Casio Men's Analog Watch #MQ24-1EI whole heartedly agree with the other reviewer. This watch is great for many reasons. The price is right. Less than $10. Come on, anyone can afford it. It doesn't weigh a thing! I personally don't like heavy watches. This is the opposite of a 10 oz Rolex or other expensive watch. It actually looks nice. Kind of a "classic" design. Gold hands and accents on black. A sweep second hand and a simple adjustable wrist band. A very simple, no-frills watch. It is my casual weekend watch that I wear when I don't need to know what day it is.

It is all plastic. The bezel can be easily scratched. But, it's easy enough to just buy another one and replace it if that happens. I'm on my second one in 10 years and I also have a spare in reserve. Once you've bought more than one battery for this watch, you have already reached the purchase price.

I hope Casio never stops making this basic model. In fact, they should expand the line to include other colors, designs, etc.

Casio Men's Ana-Digi Alarm Chronograph Dive Watch #AMW320D-9EV Review

Casio Men's Ana-Digi Alarm Chronograph Dive Watch #AMW320D-9EVAfter about seven years of great service, my wrist now bears a dead AMW320D (great name, eh, really trips off the tongue).I went in for my third battery replacement and the jeweler told me that corrosion had eaten away at the movement. The first time I replaced the battery I learned that the seal had to be broken and the watch might no longer resist water. The soft rubbery plastic strap died long ago, replaced by a superior twist-o-flex-style metal wrist band.
Now you might think I'm dissatisfied. But I intend to order another the minute (or so -- I don't have a working watch) I finish writing this review. Why?It has been a great watch.Analog plus digital gives me easy-to-read intuitive time checking, along with all the bells and whistles of silicon: multiple times, alarm, stop watch, and calendar. The outer ring on the face lets me rotate the "north" arrow to a future time, say 45 minutes from now, and I know time's up when the minute hand gets there.(I have no idea why the face ring has compass points and degrees marked on it -- to fool one's friends?)The watch has been rugged, holding up to the shock of using hoes and axes, although I didn't push my luck if I remembered to take it off.
I'm looking at my old friend, now motionless and blank, and figure he had a pretty good run.Time's up for this timepiece, at a cost of a little more than $10 per year. Since I bought the last one on display at Mervyn's, I didn't get a box or manual and didn't even know what it was called AMW320D until looking it up on the web just now.AMW320D I didn't even know your name all these great years together.

Casio Men's G-Shock MT-G Atomic Tough Solar Watch #MTG900DA-8V Review

Casio Men's G-Shock MT-G Atomic Tough Solar Watch #MTG900DA-8VI surveyed vast field of digital choices before getting the watch a month ago, and I'm well satisfied. Most digital watches (as opposed to analog with hour and minute hands) are ugly, IMO, so my surveying has mainly been frustrating.I found a nice line of digital Casio Edifices, with big digits and glimmering colorful faces, which served for a while, but has apparently been discontinued a year or two ago, and my last one quit working two months ago.

I bought this watch, grimacing at the price, just because it wasn't particularly ugly and had big digits, but it exceeded my meager expectations. The manual was a bit of a slog - it took about 20 minutes to read, but well worth it.

The features are outstanding - about 5 alarms, one of which can be set for snooze alarms, the expected stop watch, easy access to Greenwich Meridian Time, markers for noting times, a backlight, waterproof enough for scuba diving (not that I dive).

The special features include checking with a radio signal daily so the time is always correct (important for catching my buses and winning arguments about what time it really is), solar power (so run-down batteries should never be a problem), and backlighting that turns on when one turns one's wrist (surprisingly convenient).A nice touch is when one cycles back to the time, the watch gives a different unobtrusive beep.

There are other features available on other watches - tape recorders, flash drives, altimeters, compasses, but none that sound remotely useful in the long run.

I had to shorten the well-built wriststrap by 5 or 6 links, a little tricky, but any watch shop could do it in 5 minutes.

If you want a big, full-featured, easy-to-read and operate digital watch, this is the one, and I've surveyed most of them.

Post originally written mid-January, this added 2-25-07:I've found there might be problems with battery life, or maybe it is just the Seattle winter.I've had to leave my watch sometimes under a light when the power get low, and changing the battery can only be done by Casio, according to one watch shop. Also, the price on the watch is coming down quickly to more reasonable levels.I still like it a lot, despite having to juice it up from time to time.

Casio Men's Reverse LCD Atomic Pathfinder Watch #PAW1300Y-1VCR Review

Casio Men's Reverse LCD Atomic Pathfinder Watch #PAW1300Y-1VCRI got this watch last week and it's been great so far.I've been using Timex Ironman watches forever and this is slightly bigger but not at all bulky. The barometer has been spot on since I calibrated it.The altimeter worked great on a hill run that I did yesterday.Compass was off by 6 deg, but for a watch that isn't too bad.Thermometer is affected by your body temp so that's probably the most inaccurate sensor. The atomic timekeeping is probably the best thing about the watch.

The negatives are that the alarm isn't that loud and the countdown timer doesn't have a repeat setting, you have to start it over yourself.Overall though great watch, I would buy it again.

Product Description:
Explore. Inform. Conquer. Featuring sporty style and a durable design, the Atomic Pathfinder is much more than a watch, it's an advanced tool for use in the great outdoors. This Amazon Exclusive is equipped with many high-tech sensors to help you observe nature and monitor its continuous changes.
Atomic Timekeeping for Superb Accuracy
The Pathfinder provides micro-second accuracy with multi-band atomic timekeeping that picks up a time calibration signal from anywhere in the world and updates the watch's settings automatically. The Pathfinder features five daily alarms, a countdown timer, and an hourly time signal. The world time function includes 29 time zones (30 cities), a city code display, and a daylight saving on/off function. The automatic calendar is pre-programmed to the year 2099.
Tough Solar Power Eliminates Need for a Battery
You'll never have to worry about changing the battery thanks to the Pathfinder's Tough Solar technology. The battery is automatically charged by light, both indoor and outdoor. The Pathfinder has a solar cell and a special rechargeable, secondary battery that is charged by the electrical power produced by the solar cell. The watch will perform for five months on a single full charge.
Automatic Electro-Luminescent Display for Easy Viewing
The watch's read-outs can be viewed in any light, thanks to the Pathfinder's automatic, EL (electro-luminescent), adjustable backlit digital display with afterglow. Two high-intensity LEDs make the face exceptionally bright, and an auto light means that when you tilt the Pathfinder toward your face, the LEDs automatically light up for nighttime viewing.
Barometer, Altimeter, and Thermometer Readings
With the Pathfinder's barometer, you can predict changing weather patterns as they occur around you. The barometer takes readings every two hours and stores them automatically, graphically displaying the barometric pressure from the past 26 hours. The display ranges from 260 to 1,100 hPa (7.65 to 32.45 inHg) with changeovers from hPa to inHg.
The watch's altimeter can help you gauge the time you'll need to reach the summit. The altimeter checks and displays the altitude every two minutes and stores readings with the temperature every 15 minutes. The graphing function positions you with respect to your target altitude, while an alarm alerts you as you approach your mark. You can record up to 40 sets of data with each record, displaying the month, date, and time. The altimeter's measuring range is from -700 to 10,000 meters (-2,300 to 32,800 feet).
The Pathfinder also features a built-in thermometer that displays and checks the temperature every five minutes. The display can be converted from Celsius to Fahrenheit and measures temperatures from -10 to 60 degrees C (14 to 140 degrees F). So whether you're hiking through the Grand Canyon or snowshoeing in the Rockies, the Pathfinder has you covered.
Sporty, Durable Design
This sports watch is durably designed with a stainless steel case, round black resin bezel, durable mineral crystal, and black resin band with a secure buckle clasp. Buttons flank the bezel and allow easy access to the watch's sensors. Yellow and white concentric stick indexes on the watch bezel indicate barometric pressure, receiving capability, battery power, and more. The black dial changes with each mode and provides easy-to-read recordings, including graphs and tables. This timepiece is powered by Japanese-quartz movement and is water-resistant to 330 feet (100 M).

Casio Men's Digital Compass Twin Sensor Sport Watch #SGW100-1V Review

Casio Men's Digital Compass Twin Sensor Sport Watch #SGW100-1VThis is a great watch. About accuracy: After performing the compass calibration, I can say it is fairly accurate. I always get acceptable direction of where the north should be. Temperature is also accurate but it is true, you need to take off the watch for about 10 to 15 min to get a good reading. If not, then you get a constant 31 degrees.
About size, I think it does has a very good size, big numbers, clear display and very nice to press buttons.
Band is resin.
I gave 4 stars because I think alarm is dim but that is just a personal point of view.
Very nice to use. In all, I am happy with my purchase.

Updatedic 21 08: Yes, timeis display normally in the central area of the screen, where the 330° is shown on picture. This picture here in amazon shows the compass mode. I have added some images for size and display info.

Casio Men's Sports Chronograph Alarm 10-Year Battery Databank Watch #AW80D-7AV Review

Casio Men's Sports Chronograph Alarm 10-Year Battery Databank Watch #AW80D-7AVI like a watch with analog hands, but with digital features.Since they are hard to find these days, I ordered this one.

The good:

The LCD portion of the watch is very easy to read.

The watch seems accurate so far.

The analog portion of the watch is controlled by the digital, so it should stay as accurate as the digital portion.(The minute hand clicks 1/3 of a minute every 20 seconds.)

The bad:

The digital portion of the watch has so many features that it is difficult to use.Do I really need three alarms? The watch can store 30 phone numbers in it.Ten years ago that could have been useful, but now I store all my numbers in my cell phone. To make use of all these features, I'd need to carry around the instruction manual (which is 100 pages long, if you include the English, Spanish, and warrantee--although the pages are small).

The watch has no second hand.Sometimes I like to use one to time short things.Yes, there is a built in stop watch, but it is as hard to use as all the other digital features.(But my guess is the lack of a second hand will extend battery life.)

The band grabbed the hair on my arm.I had to go out and buy a twist-o-flex.

There is no stem to set the analog portion of the watch.Instead, you go into handsetting mode in the digital portion, and push a button and wait for the hands to move forward to the correct time.To set the hands forward 11 hours to go off of DST took several minutes.

The watch has a DST setting. It sets the digital portion of the watch ahead an hour. But it doesn't automatically go back after DST ends.So you still need to adjust the watch. It's not much easier than just resetting the time. And it doesn't affect the analog hands.

The watch has a world time feature. You can quickly find out the time in Bangkok. But don't expect to use this on your vacation to keep track of the local time.Press any button and you will return to your local time.

The ugly:

The analog hands are hard to read. They are a light color on a white background.

There is too much writing on the watch. Not only is it ugly, but it is easy to confuse the "10 YEAR BATTERY" label next to the 3 for a minute hand.

There is a backlight for the analog portion at the push of a button. But it doesn't give quite enough light, and it goes out after a second even if you leave the button pushed in.There is no backlight for the digital portion.

Casio Men's Multifunction Sport Watch #93H-1AV Review

Casio Men's Multifunction Sport Watch #93H-1AVI'm giving this baby 5 stars for doing so much, so well, for so little $$$. I really like the light button on the top (much easier to access while driving) compared to the li'l button on the side of most Casios. The digits light up without lighting up the whole watch (nice in a darkened theater). It is super simple to use and doesn't look like some kind of space kid's watch or Rambo-wannabe watch. I lost my first one, so I'm back to Amazon for number 2. I might even pick up a spare since products these days seem to change so rapidly (and not always for the better). The previous reviewer dissed this fine watch because it was not large enough. Man, I love this watch because it isn't too big. So many of the Mens sport watches these days seem to be a obnoxious cross between a hockey puck and a bar of soap with a wrist strap. It's a time piece. I don't need to call attention to myself with its ginormousness, nor do I want to be banging it on all manner of obstructions due to its bloated proportions. Bravo to Casio for getting this one right. Great watch for a great price!

Casio Men's Databank 300 Digital Watch #DBC310-1 Review

Casio Men's Databank 300 Digital Watch #DBC310-1I buy a new one of these every 3 to 5 years, it seems. I like the calculator, one-year-in-advance alarms, and the phonebook functions. They are simple but useful to me. For birthdays and anniversaries, you can have an annual alarm rollover without having to enter it again. Overall a very handy product. The only con I can think of is it goes thru batteries and they are not easy to change correctly. But I really like it anyway. This watch will not get you any fashion points--but I didn't want any.

Casio Men's Illuminator Bracelet Digital Watch #A178WA-1A Review

Casio Men's Illuminator Bracelet Digital Watch #A178WA-1AEver since I navigated my sailboat around the world using a $10 Casio watch as my primary timekeeping device (before GPS, of course) I've been a big fan of cheap Casio watches, but I have a drawer full of working ones with broken bands. The metal band cheap-o's are mostly the three-button classic with small numerals. As I get older, I need the bigger numerals. This one is absolutely perfect. At $14 it is the ultimate statement of function and substance trumping snobbery.

Casio Men's G-Shock Classic Ana-Digi Watch #G100-1BV Review

Casio Men's G-Shock Classic Ana-Digi Watch #G100-1BVWhat's not to like about a seventy dollar waterproof, shockproof multi-function watch that also looks good. It's a seriously rugged-looking watch but very light weight. An inset digital screen is controlled by a mode button that advances through the date, digital time, alarm time, stopwatch, and second time zone functions. The screen can be backlit in a cool (really) blue light for night viewing. The rectangular screen is a bit small and not easily read with these baby boomer eyes in certain offlit situations. It is also difficult to read the screen when the analog minute hand sweeps across the screen through the 4 to 8 hour period. I'd pay another ten bucks to see this screen replicated on the top of the watch face (between 10 and 2 o'clock)to avoid this. No big deal. Hey, it's only seventy bucks!

Casio Men's Ana-Digi Chronograph Sport Watch #AQ150W-1EV Review

Casio Men's Ana-Digi Chronograph Sport Watch #AQ150W-1EVgot this watch on sale at sears for around 25$ i needed an alarm but hate the all digital watches and couldn't afford an all analog watch with alarm and chrono so i got this. casio makes way more analog/digital combo watches that any other maker. this watch is fantastic, large buttons, simple digital functions, you got the time on top then month, day and day of week on bottom. then alarm, stopwatch and a second timezone if you need that on bottom instead of the date..illuminator blue light lights up analog and digital display.. if i could change one thing i would give this watch a super scratch resistant crystal like the really expensive watches because after a while you get scratches because its a plastic face. But all you need is to buff it with 'acrylic scratch remover' and it looks brand new again

Casio Men's Waveceptor Solar Atomic Ana-Digi Sport Watch #WVA430J-1 Review

Casio Men's Waveceptor Solar Atomic Ana-Digi Sport Watch #WVA430J-1I'm normally not one to write product reviews, but I cannot say enough good things about this watch. In the past, I was a watch collector and rotated among wearing several watches depending upon my activity (work, sports, etc.) and mood (dress, casual, quirky).Since I purchased this watch several years ago on Amazon, I've pretty much abandoned my other watches and wear this one exclusively. It's comfortable, easy-to-read, and looks great for both business and casual wear. It's also the lowest maintenance watch I've ever owned.Because it's solar-powered, I've never had to mess with replacing the battery. And with its atomic clock capability, I've never had to mess with adjusting the time, especially when Daylight Savings Time rolls around. When my wife and I spent two weeks in England last fall, I kept the analog set to our "home" time and used the digital inset for UK time (it is easy to toggle between different time zones in digital mode). Finally, even after wearing it daily for several years, it still looks almost new.I thought I'd be turned off by the plastic band, but it has also turned out to be the most durable watchband I've ever owned.I sure don't miss having to replace batteries and watchbands! If I had to list any cons about this watch, it can be a little tricky to set, but that's mostly because I never have to mess with it and then have to dig out the small print instructions.I also don't use any of the advanced functions like the alarm or stopwatch.Otherwise, I've enjoyed this watch so much that I'm tempted to get a spare in case my trusty original ever wears out.
