Casio Men's Ana-Digi Edifice Thermometer Bracelet Watch #EFA120D-1AV Review

Although this watch is "only" a Casio it is simply an amazing and elegant timepiece. For under $60 dollars the watch looks like it costs at least $100 more and has tons of features to keep any technophile content.

The Pros of this watch include:

- Looks:Unlike a lot of other Casio watches, which have cheap looking plastic parts holding the metal pieces together, this watch is all metal. It looks like it is on par with the Seiko's and Pulsar's out there.I chose the square model over the otherwise identical round model because it looks more elegant whereas the round appears more sporty... either way you cannot go wrong.

- Features: The face of the watch is embedded with digital screens that are not normally visible unless you really try and look for them.This allows it to have the grace of a analog watch with the technology and features of a digital.But remember this is an analog watch first so the digital screens are not quick and easy to read like a true digital watch... they are there for supplementary information.

Cons of this watch include:

- The hands of the watch can partially obstruct the digital screens at times.

- The indicators for the alarm, hourly chime, autobacklight, etc. are really small and hard to see.

- The clasp of the band is made from much cheaper looking steel than the rest of the watch. This is not really a problem since you cannot see this part once the clasp is closed.

- The band is rather difficult to adjust and there are not a lot of settings in between so I was not able to get the "perfect" fit although it is very close.

- The band seems to scratch easily.I have had a Pulsar diver's watch for 20 years and had no scratches on its band.I have owned the Casio for less than 1 month and already there are a few faint scratches.Luckily I have not scratched the crystal as of yet but I would not be surprised if this also was easy to scratch.

- The thermometer is innacurate but it can be calibrated and once you calibrate it according to your body temp it does a fair job of telling you the temperature.

- It only has 1 alarm, and it does not have atomic timekeeping like other Casio watches.

Overall I have been really happy with the features and appearance of this watch. It really draws lots of compliments for its analog style and when people look at it upclose they are wowed by the technology factor as well.Really a good buy for the money, hopefully it will hold up with daily use and abuse.

Casio Men's Active Dial Sport Watch # AQW100D-1AV Review

I got this on closeout and couldn't resist for the price.It's a typical Casio piece-rugged, accurate, and well put together.There is no compass function--it just has directions printed on the non-rotating bezel.The wave function is difficult to set as you have to track down some odd information about your location.Even when I did that it seemed inaccurate.The moon function works well.The time needs to be set twice, once for the hands and once for the digitial.Some may appreciate that but since the hands only move forward, I found it to be quite a pain when stepping off a plane.It took several minutes of constant button-holding to get the hands to move forward 23 hours.

I like it because the display is clear and the whole face lights up.The metal band is solid and comfortable.It's not too heavy and not too big.I'm a fan, but there's no getting around the fact that it's a budget watch.

Casio Men's Classic Ana-Digi Watch #AQ47-1E Review

Great product, great price. This is my 4th Casio Alarm Chrono. The watch keeps going but the plastic band breaks after about a year of use!! The low price makes the watch expendable, though, so I buy a new one every year or so. Thin profile, very comfortable on the wrist, and both analog and digital clock face.

Casio Men's G-Shock Tough Solar Watch #G2300B-1V Review

I had other G-shock watches before, but now my skin reacts to the rubber watch band.The nylon mesh band is great, with the velcro adjustment, it was very comfortable.I like the Casio for its ruggedness and the solar power is a great bonus.I went snorkeling with this watch, only about 15ft., but it worked fine, I didn't need to turn on the backlight.The backlight works pretty well low light and dark rooms.The only negative thing about the watch, are the buttons.You need to push them pretty hard to get the function you want.But you get used to it.

Casio Men's Sport Watch #W753-3AV Review

I decided I wanted a decent-sized yachting watch with the tide shown on it as I thought it would be handy for sailing. I looked around and discovered there are huge differences in prices for watches and as I couldn't justify spending much, after some study I ended up choosing the Casio Sea Pathfinder. Now I don't know much about brands but I do know that Casio isn't a cool brand but, hey, getting this much watch for less than twenty pounds, I couldn't complain. The Amazon price was significantly cheaper than prices in the various chandlery mail order catalogues (now there's a surprise!). Please note there is a blue strap version (the one I chose) and black strap or silver strap versions which I think are the same watch (at least the same innards) but slightly different visually.

So, what's the watch like? Firstly, I'm a woman (albeit a large one!) and some men's watches look ridiculous. This one is fine, it's got a large face but not enormously so and a curved glass top so it feels smooth. There are four large buttons, two either side, which are easy to press. The main display (usually the time) is easy to see and very clear, the tidal and lunar displays less so, although you get used to reading the watch face.

There are a number of different modes including time, dual time (i.e. two different time zones), moon (how many days into the moon), 5 alarms, stopwatch and countdown timer. Interestingly I've found myself using the countdown timer when cooking (rather than a normal cooking pinger) because it's very easy to set. In fact all of the options on the watch are easy to set - once you've found out your lunitudinal interval. This mystery number helps the watch know the tidal states but the little instruction book that comes with the watch only gives general lunitudinal interval locations, such as 'London'. Armed with a set of tide tables and the watch, I discovered that London is significantly different to Eastbourne (Sovereign Harbour) tidal times. The thing I hadn't realised before buying this watch is that you can dial in the date and time and it will tell you the tide at that point, it doesn't just tell you the tide right now, so I was able to check the calculations up till December this year. Eventually, after some googling, I found a table of lunitudinal intervals along the South Coast of England. It didn't include Eastbourne but did have some other locations and, with a little trial and error, I managed to find the best lunitudinal interval which meant my watch tides agreed mostly with the Tide Table tides. And so far the tidal display seems reasonably accurate - it's nowhere near good enough to use for sailing planning but is a helpful quick check when you're thinking about walking on the beach (will the dog be able to play in the rock pools or will they be covered up?) and for general interest.

Being a digital watch it does have the unfortunate problem that when wearing polarising sunglasses (as I do when sailing) it's hard to make out the LCD display, but this is also true for the log, depth display, radar etc on the boat and isn't the fault of the watchmaker, just something to bear in mind.

Battery life is supposedly 10 years but most people will be bored with the watch by then and have moved onto the next one. The light lights up the face in the dark (what more do you need), the beeps for the alarms are loud enough to wake me, the watch overall seems perfectly adequate and it looks good. I think if I'd paid fifty pound I would have been very happy, for less than twenty it's a complete bargain. Go for it!
