Casio #DBE30D-1AV Men's Tough Solar Databank Telememo Watch Review

Casio #DBE30D-1AV Men's Tough Solar Databank Telememo WatchI really like this watch. It has all the features i look for in a watch and more. There was one major downside though.

Pro's
Multiple Alarms
Great Backlight
Countdown Timer
Three letter day on main display
Large Numbers
Date and year on main display
Solar Charged battery
Data bank to store names and numbers
World Clock
Day counter (counts days elapsed since the entered date)
Stainless Steel Band

Con's
Easily scratched face
Watch band mounts to the case.

The 2nd con above was a big downside for me. The darker grey band mounts on the case are rubber. Without doing anything other than wearing it normally, eventually the band pin cuts through the rubber. I have had mine replaced twice. The first time i replaced one side and then a week after getting it back the other side broke.
A month later it happened again. This time the whole band was replaced.
Frustrating as it was, Casio fixed the band on each occasion without charge even though the seemingly great 3 year warranty doesnt cover anything other than the electronics.

I will definitely buy another Casio, maybe another databank, but i will make sure, absolutely sure that it is all steel construction.

The band mount mars was is otherwise a great watch.

I give it 2 stars, but with a better band mount it would have been five.

Product Description:
With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market. In developing its own wristwatches Casio began with the basic question, "What is a wristwatch?" Rather than simply making a digital version of the conventional mechanical watch, we thought that the ideal wristwatch should be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way. Based on this, Casio was able to create a watch that displayed the precise time including the second, minute, hour, day, and month not to mention a.m. or p.m., and the day of the week. It was the first watch in the world with a digital automatic calendar function that eliminated the need to reset the calendar due the variation in month length. Rather than using a conventional watch face and hands, a digital liquid crystal display was adopted to better show all the information. This culminated in the 1974 launch of the CASIOTRON, the world s first digital watch with automatic calendar. The CASIOTRON won acclaim as a groundbreaking product that represented a complete departure from the conventional wristwatch.
